Repetition Rhythm;
The repetition of a specific item(s) in a room making for a very organized look can make a room look more formal.

Radiation Rhythm;
When the room itself or certain things it the room move in a circular motion drawing the eyes out and often times making the room look larger.

Gradation Rhythm:
Gradual change of color for example in the picture at the right the slow movement from the cream, to tan, to brown or in the picture in the middle and at the left the change in size of the wall decor or polka dots.

Textures

Texture

I filled this room with many fun textures and colors.
I textured looking wall paper that is much different from the soft couch and sewn pillows.
I pick a stool with studs up the sides and around the top to off set that fuzzy rug and the rigid vases on the glass coffee table. I wood cabinet in the back has shutters with a bumpy texture and gives a bit of a rustic look to this elegant room. I think the texture makes that space look lively and fun. It is exactly the type of room i want to fill my future home with. Fun and up beat!

Color Schemes
For my first Olio board i choose to do a bathroom. I included pinks, blues, greens, and then a little cream and brown in the sink and stool. I think the wall paper made the space look a little bit small but it gives a very peaceful feeling for a bathroom. A nice place to relax and shower or simply to get ready for the day. I Love how the space turned out.

For my second Olio board i did a bedroom. I choose to use greens, oranges, browns tans and cream. I think it gives a peaceful feeling and kinda reminds me of fall which i find to be the prettiest season because i love the combination of these colors together.
Color Schemes 3
For my third Olio board i sort of re created my own bedroom. I love the combination of the brights and darker colors together. My room gives me and everyone else a big sense of relaxation with the minimal lighting and white walls. These colors make the room seem larger then it is becausw the white walls create a more spacious feeling.

1. Some of the factors that influence the psychological impact that color has on people are age, gender, culture, and life experiences.
2.Each color has a different affect on people and how it makes them feel for example...
Red; red will give a sense of power, danger, strength, passion or fire
Green; green will make you feel at peace and give more of a cool, natural feel
Violet; violet will give off a dramatic and dignified feeling
3. Secondary colors are colors that are made when you mix an equal amount of two primary colors mixed together; the secondary colors are:
Orange: made up of red and yellow
Green: made up of yellow and blue
Violet: made up of blue and red
4. The primary color is always stated first in a tertiary color
5. Intensity is the brightness or dullness of a color; value is the lightness or darkness.
6. A tint is when white is added to the color; a shade is when black is added to the color; a shade is when grey is added to the color.
7. you neutralize a color by adding black white or grey to the color.
8. There are two color groups, warm and cool: warm colors would be colors such as red and orange; cool colors would be colors like blue and purple
9. There are seven color harmonies listed below and how you use them:

  •  monochromatic; a single color hue
  • complementary color; using colors that are directly across one another on the color wheel are complementary colors
  • slip complementary colors; using a hue with two hues adjacent to its compliment
  • double complementary; using two colors and their compliments
  • analogous colors; using related hues from the color wheel
  • triadic colors; using any three colors that are equally spread out form each other
  • neutral colors; combinations of black white and grey even though they are not "hues"

10. Some things that would effect the color harmony a person chooses would be their all around mood, lifestyle, gender, age and much more!
11. Some of the factors that play into harmonies use din planning would include the space you have to decorate , and who you are decorating it for.
12. If you were dealing with someone who can not differ between two colors you should always just fill the space with a happy color because what are the odds if you put yellow in the wall they will see black? They would maybe see a color like green or purple, another happy or bright color.
13. I would suggest a color that never seems to disappoint maybe a shade of green or rustic orange they both give off a relaxing feeling but would go along with the northern feeling the room gives off.

Home Roofing Styles

Gable Roof: A roof with two sloping

Mansard Roof: All four sides of this                                                  roof have two slopes, the lower four                                                    steeper then the upper four.
Saltbox Roof: A variation of the gable
roof, originally created when a low lean-to

The home i have selected for my stage of a launching family is a big 5 bedroom 5 bathroom house with plenty of room for a growing family. I would love to be able to fill my home with a lot of white and neutral looks. That way if i ever wanted to spice it up and add a pop of color i could without having to worry about matching colors with paint on the walls and what not!  I love the high vaulted ceilings and the dark wood.

My next stage would be empty nesting when all my children grow up and move away. I would move into a small apartment or assisted living home because there comes a point when caring for the lawn and having a huge house to do up keep on becomes to much. I would hope to live somewhere similar to this. Beautiful and peaceful.I would want to go somewhere warm like Georgia or Alabama because i really hate the cold and tink that being older it just becomes a hassle.

This week in Interior Design we are learning about housing wants and needs at different stages of your life. About how someone at 22 and someone at 45 will have many differences such as going from living with a roommate to a family of your own!

I have decided that when i graduate i want to leave Minnesota for a few years and go stay somewhere like Florida. I would probably be living in an apartment or condo with a boyfriend and/or roommate. My personal needs would be satisfied with just a little 2 bed room and 2 bathroom home. Small but roomy i personally would want somewhere with a pool being that its always warm there and of course a gym because who doesn't love to work out?!?!

I hope to only stay away for a few years because i know already that i want to have a young family and to hopefully be thinking about marriage and kids by 23 or so! My next home i would be moving into would be my "starter home" as a newly wed and mother to maybe one or two children. I would hope to have a 4 bedroom 4 bathroom home because i hate to be packed in. Then we would always have extra room for friends and family to come and stay as well. I have a very big family and we are very close knit its always nice to know that there is somewhere for you to go or stay when you don't have anywhere else and i want my home to be that place for my family.

Something like this. Fun and spunky yet Not listed at a crazy price! Maybe even just to rent for a few years until we need to up size yet again.

This week in interior design we are learning all about blogs and how to even make our very own!  A lot of Interior Designers would choose to have a blog to get their name out into the world and maybe even score themselves some new projects.  Today I am looking into other peoples blogs to see what it’s all about and share a little of what I find with you!

                                        Blog #1 Decor8
This blogger in particular has posted a lot of rooms filled with a lot of white and little splashes of gold silver and pops of color. That is my favorite look and how I hope to someday be able to do a home of my own.  Written by an Award winning author, journalist Holly Becker.

Blog #2 Freshome
This blog is so up my ally you should check it out! Lots of white and vintage looks like brick, yellow and royal blue and greens. Love the peaceful vibe it gives off and i will say i think the white can go with just about everything! Looking and all of the blogs but this one in particular makes me so excited to start remodeling my space!

 Blog #3 Contemporist
This blog focuses on commemorate design. Much space with not a lot in it. Wide open rooms and lots of area to live and grow weather by yourself with a spouse or raising a family. I love the more dull look with the wood paneling and the neutral colors. The browns, blacks, tans, and whites. Both modern and rustic look mixed together which are my two favorites so its wrapping everything i love together into one.

My NurseryThis week in Interior Design we are working on mood boards. A mode board is an arrangement of images, materials, pieces of text, etc., intended to evoke or project a particular style or concept. I made a nursery for a baby. It shows my personality because I love both the rustic and modern look so I put a little of both in there. It’s also represents me because I don’t like when things are matchy so I put a wide range of different colors and styles in there. This mood board reminds me a lot of my own room at home! All in all this shows the kind of person I am and the vision I have for my own home someday.
